About a month ago we went to a new restaurant on a Saturday night. The restaurant is in the nearby town of Easley, SC which is just a short drive from here. We had read about it in the paper and wanted to try it out. The restaurant is called Inky's and it features Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches (and other sandwiches as well) and is run by a man who moved to this area from PA along with his two adult daughters and their families. You can read the article here.
I had fully intended to post something about this shortly after our visit but...the very next evening we got a call from our daughter Nora saying she was leaving for the hospital because she thought she was in labor. She was correct and very early the next morning we got a call telling us about the birth of little Reynolds Rebecca Collogan who weighed in at 4 pounds 12 ounces. Because of her size and gestational age she ended up staying in the NICU for eleven days. During that time we kept big sister Della here at our house and ferried her back and forth to visit her mom and dad. She wasn't able to meet her little sister until she got out of the hospital.
Here are Nora and Renny while still at the hospital:
Here is Della this past week when she was a bit distressed by her sister's crying:
After Nora and Renny were released from the hospital they came to our house for a few days to (hopefully) rest. During those few days Aunt Megan was able to fly down from Michigan to meet little Renny and encourage Nora since she too had had a preemie in the NICU eight years ago.
Here is Megan holding Renny:
Here Della is helping Aunt Megan unload the dishwasher.
Last week was a little busier than normal because we had our other two local grandchildren staying here a night or two because their parents had early morning school meetings one morning and a family funeral another day. It's always fun to have them spend the night and fortunately they are good sleepers.
Here is Ryan meeting Renny for the first time:
Here is Avery "reading" to Della:
This week I was able to finish canning up two bushels worth of applesauce and start some much needed cleaning and organizing. I'm thankful that the Lord protected Nora and Renny and that both are doing well. The baby is up to nearly 6 pounds and sometimes even lets her mother sleep for four hours at a time.
Here are Buddy and Qwill "Helping me can applesauce:
Have the last few weeks seemed to fly by for you too?
