Yum! I love beets. My mom fixed Harvard beets, which are in a sweet sauce. I took a cooking class in college and a gal tried them. Somehow she put in salt instead of sugar--1/2 a cup or something equally terrifying! They were NOT GOOD!

Carol, I'm so glad you found me! I have enjoyed your blog immensely. You really are gifted at writing about your life over there. We "think" of you and your family often and were glad we got to meet Caleb this year. I would love to have a card with a picture of your family if he could bring me one or even two when he returns to school.
I'm glad I'm not blocked in your country. It may be because my husband has his own website--he's the computer geek, not me!

Rhonda, my planter has two pots in it. The top has variegated ivy and the bottom has a mossy/fern like plant. So far it's still alive!

My friend, Bet, taught me to like beets--especially pickled. I have never had them roasted. Deb's recipe sounds wonderful! I'd like more details. :) I love your new plant. I can't quite figure out from your picture exactly what it is. The unique container really makes it special. I hope you have success at keeping it alive!

I LOVE pickled beets! I just bought a bunch at the farmers market on Saturday and have been eating pickled beets all week! I had them for supper tonight. ;-)

I don't think I've ever had them roasted--I can quite picture what that would be like, but I'm thinking I would like them.

Becka, we've roasted beets from our garden with carrots, onions, white potatoes and sweet potatoes (and sometimes with butternut squash) with olive oil and rosemary - delicious! I grew up loving pickled beets!
