Happy New Year

I didn't mean to abandon my blog for quite so long. We had a wonderful Christmas with many special services at church and fun times with family. I hope to post more about our family times in upcoming posts, but wanted to post at least briefly to say that we are back in town after spending a few days up in MI with family.

It was cold and blustery and we saw all sorts of weather including snow, rain, sleet, and fog! It was nice to get back home to warmer temps, but we will certainly miss our family up there.

One thing we try to always do when we are up in Michigan is to go to the thrift store. We found lots of treasures this time including some clothes, some books, a big bag of new towels with the tags still on, and a big bag of Tupperware for $4.00!

Here is a picture of what was in the bag:

Here is my favorite piece:

I'm not exactly sure what this little sifter was intended for, but I think I will use it for powdered sugar. It seems like it would be perfect for sifting on top of cakes, cookies, etc. and then for storage afterwards.

I hope you are having a wonderful start to this new year full of the Lord's blessing.

Becka

What a cool find! I love thrift stores–do you have one special store you visit in Michigan? or do you have several you peruse while you’re there? do you have any in Greenville you like to visit?

    Rhonda,
There are two that we often visit in MI. I think both of them are on Gratiot. We just had time to visit one this time. I think it was called Value Village and it is for the benefit of veterans. My favorite one here in Greenville is the Miracle Hill store on Wade Hampton. I have found some nice clothes and books there.
    Do you do much thrifting?

Hi Becka ~ Welcome back to the blog world. Glad you had a fun time with family. I missed your posts but definitely understand with all the busyness of the season! I don’t do too much thrift shopping in stores but looks like you found some great deals. Happy New Year to your family.

I’m also a fan of Miracle Mart and the one over by Big Lots on Pleasantburg — I can’t remember the name right now. I hear there’s a new thrift shop across from BJU on Pleasantburg — I’m sure the students will make good use of that one! I plan to visit as soon as I have a chance. 🙂 I really hate to pay full price for clothes when I can frequently find well-made and sometimes even famous label designs for very little!

Rhonda, the thrift store across from BJ is called SOS and had been over on East North Street. I have found some good books in there in the past. I haven’t been in the new location yet. The last time I was in the old location they said they they were so limited in space that they had to take some of their donations directly to the Goodwill store.

I enjoy thrift store shopping too. I’ve been to the SOS thrift store before they moved. I’ve found some nice things there in the past, so I’m hoping to have some time to go to the new location at some point. I haven’t been to Miracle Mart or the one on Pleasantburg, but I’ll have to give those a try sometime. 🙂
