It’s been a while

It's been a while since my last post. Christmas kept us pretty busy. First of all, Rob got very sick with some kind of bug and spent several days sleeping just trying to feel better. It took a couple of weeks and he still has a residual cough. Nora actually had the flu and was given Tamiflu to try to help her get over it more quickly. Maddie had a fever and cough before Christmas and was still coughing when she arrived here on Christmas Day. Ryan came down with a fever on Christmas Day and still has his cough and just this week little Avery has a runny nose and cough too.

Here is Avery in her little Christmas outfit:

Megan, Jim, and the two children started driving down on Christmas Eve and arrived here on Christmas Day. We had a soup supper that night and had a ham dinner the following day. We enjoyed having all the children and grandchildren together for a few meals and events but unfortunately didn't get a picture of everyone. Maybe we can work on that in February when little Della (Nora and Topher's baby girl) arrives.

It's always fascinating to see what Drew's latest interests are when we are together. This year it seems to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and a fancy top-like toy called Bay Blades. He also loves playing games and learned to play a couple of new ones while he was here.

Here he's playing Racko with Rob and Jim:

Maddie is very active and is starting to say a few words. She loves to look at books and to be read to. Maddie enjoyed playing with some of the same toddler toys that Ryan likes. They are about ten months apart in age.

One day she came "walking" into the dining room like this:

Megan and Jim made a little kitchen for Maddie and here is a picture of her playing with it. I made her a little apron and some hot pads and dish cloths and we found the little Chef's hat at a thrift store.

Buddy also had a nice Christmas. He seems to enjoy having the children around and has learned how to stay just out of their reach. 🙂

My friend, Cheri, got him these little prince and princess mice which he absolutely loves!

I plan to post about a trip we took last week in my next post.

Thanks for the pictures! I love keeping up with your family through your blog. We were sick here in our neck of the woods as well, with Jess getting the brunt of it. It’s really horrible for everyone when the hubby/dad is sick in bed!

My youngest is 20 and played with Bay Blades when he was younger – I’m glad to know they’re still around!

That Christmas outfit us adorable – so is the baby in it. 🙂

I’m admiring the curtains there in the picture with the game at the table. Did you make those?

Barbara, I had never heard of Bay Blades. They must not have been around yet when my son was young. All the guys who were here seemed to have fun playing with them. 🙂
We think that baby girl is pretty adorable too. 🙂
I did not make those curtains, but my daughter Nora did. She knew a carpenter who made to board that they are attached to. It had to be cut just so to fit in the bay window area.

Hi Becka! My favorite pic is the one of Maddy standing inside the X and O toy! That’s a keeper.

Catching up on 1,400+ blog posts tonight that accumulated over Christmas and our New Year’s trip. Sorry I’m just checking in.
