Well, let's go with something more normal. The skin looks similar to an an apple - like a Granny Smith. The shape isn't typical for apple, but could this be some new or not well known variety of apple.

OR, I saw a different type of kiwi in one of our stores lately. I can't remember exactly what is was called, and I can't even remember exactly what it looked like (since it was about a month ago). So, how about that?

Hannah, Judy, Vikki, and Sharon: No, it's not chayote, quince, coffee beans, or guava. All are good guesses though.

The look of the fruit reminds me of a picture in one of my vegetable gardening books...could it possibly be Chayote? Not sure what it is used for, though; I'll look forward to finding out the answer.

Laura,
Yes, it was Dan Cuthbertson. His dad and his sister, Bonnie and her family go to Megan and Jim's church.

Nope, it's not Mango. Stay tuned to find out what the answer is!

Mango? I wrote a one word comment and was told my comment was too short. I hope this is long enough. Mango - my favorite fruit in the Eastern Hemisphere. I would choose Strawberries in the western hemisphere.
